Like seemingly everyone else in the world, Khloe Kardashian is currently enjoying a beach vacation with her family. She’s been sharing snippets of her time with her daughter, True, but one post, in particular, has sparked some backlash. Fans are accusing Kardashian of instilling “toxic diet culture” in True, who is just a year old.
In a photoset Kardashian shared to Instagram yesterday, True and her cousin Chicago West (Kim Kardashian’s one-year-old daughter) adorably sharing drinks and bags of Cheetos and Veggie Straws. She captioned the photo: “Chi: I heard my mama say ‘vacation calories don’t count.’ True responds: ‘Don’t tell me twice Chi.'” Kardashian clearly only meant this as a silly joke, but some fans expressed concern over Kardashian’s diet culture language. “It’s strange and concerning to attribute this ‘diet culture; language to young girls,” one user shared. “For the love of God please never actually say this around a little girl,” said another.
On Twitter, one fan crafted a more thoughtful response to Kardashian’s post, saying: “I completely understand this is a joke, but even things said in passing can have massive affect on young minds. be careful what you’re teaching! counting calories is rarely a healthy thing, if ever!”
