Justin Bieber Somehow Made April Fool’s Even Worse With Fake Pregnancy Prank

His April Fool's prank was poorly conceived, poorly executed, and kind of offensive.

Justin Bieber isn’t a dad, but his attempt at an April Fool’s Day prank shows that he has the cringe-worthy dad sense of humor down pat.

The 25-year-old singer posted an ultrasound photo to his Instagram without comment, implying that his wife, Hailey Baldwin, was pregnant with his child. She quickly exposed the ruse by commenting “very funny…” on the image, which Bieber lazily copied from the Wikipedia entry for a sonogram.

It could have ended there, but he doubled down by posting pictures of Baldwin exposing her stomach to medical personnel with the caption “If U thought it was April fools.” Why he has a picture like that lying around we’re not entirely sure.

Finally, Bieber put everyone out of their misery with a third post, an image of an ultrasound with a puppy pasted over it for some reason, confirming what we already knew: “Wait omg is that a,,, APRIL FOOLS.”

Wait omg is that a,,, APRIL FOOLS

Last month, in another Instagram post, Bieber posted earnestly about his real desire to be a dad.

“I have been looking, seeking, trial and error as most of us do,” he wrote. “I am now very focused on repairing some of the deep rooted issues that I have as most of us have, so that I don’t fall apart, so that I can sustain my marriage and be the father I want to be. Music is very important to me but Nothing comes before my family and my health.”

Bieber’s attempt at humor drew opprobrium online from those who felt the prank was insensitive to women with fertility issues.

So to recap: Bieber posted an obvious ruse that his wife quickly confirmed was fake and instead of acknowledging it was a prank he remained painfully committed to the joke, which wasn’t funny in the first place not just because it’s offensive to a large, sympathetic segment of the population but also because it’s just a lazy joke. Yikes.
