Johnny Knoxville is no stranger to pain. The man has made a career out of intentionally putting himself in harm’s way for the sake of entertainment, most famously in the popular Jackass movie franchise. But when asked recently whether he’s up for the pain that would most certainly come with making Jackass 4, Knoxville was a little less committal.
“It’s possible, for sure,” Knoxville told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s not like we’re saying no. If we did do a new one, we’d have to bring in some new younger guys — just to bring some fresh blood into it. But it’s possible.”
Knoxville is clearly interested in the idea, as he admitted to still writing down ideas and getting excited about the thought of doing stunts again. There was, however, one thing keeping him from moving forward with the film.
“Putting my family and friends through it,” said Knoxville.
As a husband and father of three, he’s unsure whether it’s fair to put his wife and kids through the ordeal of another Jackass film. His hesitance makes sense, considering that he has suffered a slew of horrific injuries during his career. He even tore his urethra when he crashed trying to do a backflip on a motorcycle in 2009. Still, Knoxville appears to be ready to add a fourth chapter to the Jackass cinematic universe. “If we did Jackass 4, I would commit,” Knoxville said. “But I may need to give my family a break for a second.”
