John Stamos, best known as Uncle Jesse, Full House‘s Elvis-loving, motorcycle-riding, guitar-shredding, bad boy-uncle-with-a-heart-of-gold, welcomed a newborn son into the world this morning and posted a heartwarming Instagram message about it. Fans of Stamos, who grew to see him as sort of their cool TV uncle, are going wild congratulating him on Twitter.
Shortly after Stamos, who at 54 was once the consummate bachelor, married Caitlin McHugh, the couple announced that they’d be expecting their first child together. The son was born this weekend and, soon after, the new dad, who’s hair was probably looking expertly feathered, posted a black and white picture of his baby laying on his stomach. “From now on, the best part of me will always be my wife and my son,” the caption read. “Welcome Billy Stamos (named after my father) #NotJustanUncleAnymore #Overjoyed”
Twitter naturally had a field day with the post, largely because longtime fans of both Full House and Stamos were overjoyed to see him take the step into fatherhood. Here are some of our favorites:

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor explained that despite becoming a father later in the game, he’s always wanted a child.
“[Fatherhood has] taken me a lot longer than I anticipated,” he said, before going on to explain he himself needed more time to grow. “I had to work on myself and put in some time … it took time for me to really be the best person I could be.”
Congrats John. May you always have mercy at the most trying moments.
