Cool Dudes Jason Momoa and Chris Pratt Squash Plastic Bottle Beef

What we're hyperbolically calling Bottlegate is officially over.

Jason Momoa loves the ocean, and he hates the single-use plastics that pollute it. Like really hates them. He famously shaved his trademark beard to promote the launch of his own line of water sold in 100 percent recyclable aluminum cans. Also, he’s freaking Aquaman.

So when fellow action star Chris Pratt posted an Instagram photo/Amazon ad holding a plastic water bottle, Momoa was upset.

“bro i love u but wtf on the water bottle. no single use plastic. come on,” Momoa wrote in a comment that has to date attracted over 57,000 likes.

And he was right! Single-use plastics are unnecessary and terrible for the planet. Pratt, who has over 27 million followers on Instagram, shouldn’t endorse them, even tacitly.

In a follow-up post on his own Instagram, Momoa shared a picture of Pratt with him and his kids, along with an apology for the kerfuffle but not, pointedly, the content of his comment.

“I’m sorry this was received so badly today I didn’t mean for that to happen,” he wrote.

“I’m just very passionate about this single use plastic epidemic. the plastic water bottles have to stop i hope u make a reusable water bottle for amazon so we all can purchase.”

Pratt did exactly that. A water bottle is now listed on his Amazon storefront, and he wrote back to the star to apologize for his absent-mindedness.

“Aquaman! You’re completely right. Dammit. I always carry my big gallon size reusable water jug around with me too. I even had it that day!!!”

“If I remember correctly somebody threw that plastic bottle to me in the photo shoot cause I didn’t know what to do with my hands! I never know what to do with my hands! So uncomfortable. For real tho. Love you too buddy. My bad. I don’t want your home of Atlantis covered in plastic. Hear that kids? Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.”
