The animated Spider-Man feature film Into the Spider-Verse is specifically about different versions of Spider-Man from different dimensions, or universes. But, now, it sounds like the Spider-Verse will crossover with Star Wars…sort of. A new rumor suggests that the Into the Spider-Verse post-credits scene contains a cameo from none other than Oscar Isaac.
Warning, this post might contain spoilers if this rumor turns out to be true.
On Wednesday, a report emerged on Inverse that the post-credits scene of Into the Spider-Verse features the appearance of a surprising new character, and that character is played by the voice of Oscar Isaac. And, some who have attended advanced screenings of Into the Spider-Verse have also said the character sounds like Oscar Issac. Who is Isaac playing in the post-credits scene? That, right now, is a huge spoiler, perhaps bigger than the fact the actor behind the character is super-famous. Oscar Isaac and Sony have not officially confirmed this rumor, but no one has denied it either.
Into the Spider-Verse presents an interesting cross-section for Sony’s take on the Spider-Man character, simply because it’s the first time a big-budget animated comic book film has been approached with this much seriousness, which is saying something, considering the movie actually has a light, and humorous tone. For families hoping to take their kids to an inclusive superhero movie this holiday season, Into the Spider-Verse will not disappoint. Some early critics have even compared it favorably to the Lego Movie.
But, for those dads who are also huge comic book nerds, the post-credits scene (maybe featuring Oscar Isaac!) will contain an old-school shout-out you won’t want to miss.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is out in wide release in movie theaters on December 14, 2018.
