It Looks Like a ‘The Incredibles’ Lego Video Game Is Happening

This would be the first-ever Pixar/Lego game collaboration.

Everyone go find your super suits. New Lego packaging appears indicate that an Incredibles 2 video game is on the horizon. The leaked art suggests that the game will be released for PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Back in January, IGN reported that an Incredibles 2 game might be in the works, despite the absence of a formal announcement from any video game studio. The packaging leak appears to be the first confirmation of that report.

Pixar has a hit-or-miss track record when it comes to releasing video games, but this will be the first Lego game based on a Pixar movie. The studio’s choice to step deeper into the video game realm by way of the (extremely popular) Incredibles franchise seems like a good place to start to correct that history.

In contrast to the wild monetary success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Incredibles received the kind of critical praise that isn’t often heaped onto the stock superhero outing. While it’s only the eighth highest-grossing Pixar film of all time, The Incredibles boasts an impressive 97 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and is often praised as the most “human” superhero film of all time.

In the era of big-budget explosion fests like The Avengers, Forbes notes the way that The Incredibles franchise is comparatively down to Earth.

“This story doesn’t begin with a call to adventure, but a mid-life crisis, as Bob, the man who feels too large for his office cubicle, yearns to return to his glory days,” said Forbes film contributor Dani Di Placido. “So he takes to sneaking out at night, fighting crime on the streets while his wife battles the kids in the living room.”

The Incredibles 2 is slated for release on June 15, 2018.
