For years, people have been clamoring for Idris Elba to take Daniel Craig’s place as James Bond when he steps down, so when the two ran into each other at the Golden Globes over the weekend, Elba couldn’t resist reigniting the 007 rumors by posting a hilarious photo of the two on his Instagram. In the photo, Craig is mean-mugging his potential replacement while Elba has the fearful look of someone at the top of James Bond’s hitlist. To put the proverbial cherry on top of this ice cream sundae of a moment, Elba wrote “Awks…” over the photo, just to make it clear how uncomfortable the entire interaction was.
While the photo was clearly taken in jest, Bond fans naturally freaked out when they saw the current Bond and the possible future Bond sharing a moment together. Elba posted the photo on his Twitter, where it quickly received more than 100,000 likes and almost 15,000 retweets.

This isn’t the first time that Elba has had some fun with the rumors that he is next in line to carry on the 007 legacy. Back in August, he tweeted out a photo of himself with the caption, “My name’s Elba, Idris Elba.” This caused many fans to assume he was finally going to confirm he would be the next James Bond. However, he followed up that tweet with another tweet that read, “Don’t believe the hype.” So in the grand scheme of things, this photo probably means nothing but that won’t stop us from imagining just how badass the reigning Sexiest Man Alive would look in a tux holding a martini (shaken, not stirred).
