Johnnie Walker recently released its new limited-edition line of whiskies inspired by Game of Thrones. Partnering with HBO, liquor label Diageo has come out with a new “White” whisky as part of its Walker line, along with eight unique single malt scotch bottles.
Meant to be served chilled, the White Walker pays tribute to the frozen setting of the popular show, which will return for its eighth and final season next year. It’s also a nod to the White Walkers, the magical ice creatures led by the feared Night King.
“This special blend has notes of caramelized sugar and vanilla, fresh red berries with a touch of orchard fruit… the Night King would have it no other way,” Diageo said.
Not only does the bottle feature the iconic Johnnie Walker Striding Man wearing White Walker armor, but when stored in the freezer, temperature-sensitive ink reveals “Winter Is Here” on the front.
Diageo also released eight different bottles in their single malt scotch collection, one for each House of Westeros, plus Night’s Watch. Diageo explained, “each has their own unique characteristics and produce a distinctive whisky representative of its local terroir…from the power of water between both House Tully and The Singleton of Glendullan, to the legendary women behind House Targaryen and Cardhu.”
All of the Game of Thrones inspired whiskies, which are priced between $30 and $65, can be purchased at liquor stores across the country while supplies last. “This is something for the fans to enjoy during celebratory viewings of the show,” said HBO Vice President of Licensing and Retail Jeff Peters.
