He’s Back! Arnold Reunites With Sarah Connor in ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Trailer

Could this movie save the series?

Paramount Pictures

The Terminator and Sarah Connor haven’t been together in nearly 30 years—until now. The official trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate premiered this morning, starring both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton.

While the upcoming release is technically the sixth installment in the series, it will be a direct continuation of the 1991 Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which is the last time that Schwarzenegger and Hamilton were seen together onscreen. Since Judgment Day, Sarah Connor has been played by Emilia Clarke and Lena Headey.

But now Hamilton is back and just as badass as ever. In the clip, she saves new characters Grace and Dani (played by Mackenzie Davis and Natalia Reyes, respectfully) by casually blowing up a terminator with a bazooka.

And her return is something that Hamilton is very excited about. Explaining to the audience at CinemaCon in April that the role of Sarah Connor in the first two films “definitely changed my life,” the 62-year-old said, “Only a script, a story, a director like this could bring me back into this world—a perfect confluence of events. Once in a lifetime, or maybe twice, an event comes along that you cannot turn away from. And for me, this is that moment.”

The franchise, which has struggled to stay relevant over the years with sequels that Hamilton called “very forgettable,” is likely hoping that viewers feel that same passion for the new film. In the same appearance at CinemaCon, she explained that the last three movies had “too many people, too many story points” and that “I think we’ve done a good job of narrowing down the focus again so [the sixth movie] will echo the first two films.”

Terminator: Dark Fate, produced by original director James Cameron and directed by Deadpool‘s Tim Miller, is set to hit theaters nationwide on November 1, 2019.
