Just weeks after Kellogs recalled thousands of boxes of Honey Smacks cereal due to a salmonella outbreak, Mondelēz Global LLC has done the same with the Ritz crackers. While there are no reported cases of salmonella connected to the popular crackers, according to a company statement, several varieties of Ritz crackers are being voluntarily recalled as a precaution due to one of the ingredients, whey powder, possibly being infected with the virus.
Not all Ritz products are affected, nor are Oreos and Chips Ahoy! cookies, which are also made by Mondelēz . Only Ritz Cracker Sandwiches and Ritz Bits Cheese with an expiration date between January 14, 2019, and April 13, 2019, are included in the recall. They should be thrown away immediately.
