Even Jason Momoa Couldn’t Help But Tear Up Watching ‘The Lion King’ With His Family

Celebrities: they're just like us.

Apparently, even action heroes aren’t immune to the emotional storylines in The Lion King. Jason Momoa recently celebrated his daughter’s birthday with a special viewing of the new live-action remake – and the kids weren’t the only ones tearing up.

This past weekend, 39-year-old Momoa and his wife Lisa Bonet took their soon-to-be 11-year-old daughter Lola and 10-year-old son Nakoa Wolf to see the flick as an early birthday celebration for Lola. Momoa posted a shot of the happy family of four in front of the movie poster, with the Game of Thrones actor looking just as excited, if not more so, than his kiddos.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVEE,” Momoa’s caption read. “I’m so thankful to be home with my ohana. Big mahalos to @disney@disneystudios for letting us have a party for our Lola Bear @lionking was amazing congrats to everyone who made this film it was heart soul tears epic. Thanks for making me cry numerous of times in front of a bunch of children #lionking #nostalgic#oneofourfavorites #mahalomeredithaloha da momoaz.” The post has nearly a million likes, and we can totally see why.

Though he didn’t specify, we’re willing to bet that Momoa shed a tear during Mufasa’s death scene, which is easily one of the most devestating moments in film history. Or perhaps it was Beyonce’s silky-smooth vocals that put him over the edge (I mean, have you heard Spirit?!). He also might have been overcome with emotion at the breathtaking effects, which many claim are some of the most impressive we’ve seen from Disney yet. Whatever the cause, it’s clear that not even Aquaman is immune to Disney magic.
