Ethan Hawke Was in Full Proud Dad Mode Talking About His Daughter’s Role in ‘Stranger Things’

The third season of Stranger Things is really bringing its A-game. Between brand new characters and heart-wrenching plot lines (no spoilers, we promise), the series is kicking things up a notch. One of this season’s brightest stars is Maya Hawke, daughter of none other than mega-actor Ethan Hawke – and he’s so adorably proud of her.

It’s not exactly shocking that Maya is venturing into acting, given that her parents are Ethan Hawke and actress Uma Thurman. The pair welcomed their daughter in 1998, two months after their marriage, and later divorced in 2005. But Maya is keeping the family business strong with her breakout role in Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things. Hawke plays Robin, a sharp-witted ice cream shop employee who’s stealing fans’ hearts in the show’s third season. Viewers also can’t help but notice that she’s basically a perfect clone of her parents; it’s almost freaky.

But perhaps the best part of Hawke’s new venture is how adorably proud her dad is of her. Over the weekend, the 48-year-old actor posted the sweetest tribute to his daughter in honor of the premiere. “Some of you may have missed her in last year’s BBC production of Little Women,” he captioned the post, which showed his daughter in character as Robin. “Some of you may have missed her work at Juilliard. I know many missed out on numerous high school productions — heck I even missed a few and I’m her father. Some of you may know her music, some may not. But Ladies & Gentleman, get to know MAYA HAWKE. She’s the real thing. #StrangerThings.”

Awww.

  1. Do you plan on sending your kids back to school this fall?
Yes. I trust that our schools are taking precautions.
No. We don't feel that proper precautions are in place.
I'm not sure yet. It depends on how things progress.
Thanks for the feedback!
