When Mark Rober’s coworkers wouldn’t stop shooting him with a nerf gun, he responded to the bullying like a former NASA engineer (that’s what he is). The YouTuber and cool uncle teamed up with his two engineering buddies to teach his adversaries not to mess with smart people and the result the world’s largest Nerf gun. It is both glorious and a great lesson for your own kids: be really smart, and you will always have the last laugh.
Powered by a 3000 psi paintball tank, the gun fires darts made of pool noodles and toilet plungers at 40 MPH. They tested it out a variety of things, including beer bottles, Solo cup pyramids, and Rober’s nieces and nephews, and concluded 2 things: First, toilet plungers have excellent suction power. Second, no one is ever winning a Nerf war with Mark Rober.
If Rober’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s the guy who showed you how to turn a leaf blower into a snowball machine gun this past winter. This project, like that one, includes a detailed explanation of how to build it, but if it seems a little daunting (spoiler: it’s a little daunting), you can always take baby steps by building a comparatively simple cheese ball machine gun, instead.
