Devo Creates Face Masks Out Of Iconic Energy Dome Hats

Whip it good.

Whip it! Whip COVID, good.

DEVO, perhaps best known for their iconic, and tragically misunderstood, energy dome hats, have come up with a nifty way to sell those hats. For the low price of $49.98, DEVO fans can buy Energy Dome PPE kits and for an additional $20, a single fabric triple-ply mask with iconic DEVO symbols on them.

That’s right: DEVO is selling, attached to their energy dome hats, a version of the plastic cap that includes a plastic face shield and selling face masks in huge packs for health-conscious fans who want to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while reminding everyone just how old they are. Mark Mothersbaugh, the front-man and cofounder of DEVO (also known for composing the music for Thor: Ragnarok, potentially the best Marvel movie ever made), helped release these sick red hats that actually have a more intense purpose than previously known.

The PPE kits, which also help commemorate the 40th anniversary of the energy dome hats, have a deeper meaning than simply being cool. Announcing the cool new protective caps, DEVO’s Gerard Casale released a statement saying that while the hats have been misunderstood as “flower pots, dog bowls, car urinals, lampshades, and eventually relegated specifically for use at holiday parties,” the hats are actually based on the ancient ziggurat mound proportions used in “votive worship.” The domes apparently collect energy that escapes the human head and pushes it back into the medulla oblongata for increased mental energy, per DEVO.

But the plastic PPE kits, which are currently only available for pre-order, will do much more than increase mental energy. They’ll also protect your face from particulates that might pass COVID-19 from you to others or vice versa. Talk about a multi-purpose tool!
