Daisy Ridley Says ‘Rise of Skywalker’ Ending Will Be “Less Controversial” Than ‘Game of Thrones’

She also spoke hinted at Dark Rey's journey.

Walt Disney Pictures

Game of Thrones is such a giant in the entertainment space that even those who aren’t fans probably know what’s going on. For example, almost every living human on Earth is aware that the series finale was poorly received by viewers. Even Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker star Daisy Ridley is so familiar with the phenomenon that she was able to compare her own movie to the finale – without having seen it.

In a recent interview with MTV News, Ridley told reporter Josh Horowitz that she was only four seasons (aka halfway) through Game of Thrones. However, she could still confidently say that the upcoming film will be “less controversial” than the Game of Thrones finale (I mean, let’s hope so). “I think this ending will be less controversial,” Ridley told Josh Horowitz of MTV News.

This is pretty shocking, considering that in the teaser footage Ridley’s character, Rey, is seen wearing Sith robes, implying that she’s turned to the Dark Side. Fans have been speculating like crazy about this, with many saying that Emperor Palpatine has either cloned Rey or somehow infiltrated her mind. Ridley spoke to Horowitz about fans reactions to “Dark Rey”, saying that they’ll just have to wait and see “however long it lasts, wherever she ends up”.

So, it’s very possible that Dark Rey’s journey isn’t as dramatic as we think it is. At the very least, not as dramatic as Game of Thrones. Nevertheless, all will be revealed when the movie is released in December 2019.
