A father’s Facebook post about having to change his daughter’s diaper on “a disgusting floor” because of a lack of changing stations in men’s bathroom has gone viral. Chris Mau was on a walk with Kali, his eight-month-old daughter, when he realized that she needed to be changed stat. Instead of making the trek home, Mau ran into a restaurant that had a play area, assuming that it would have a changing station in the men’s restroom. Sadly, he was mistaken.
Instead of finding a changing station, Mau found nothing but a dirty bathroom floor. Afterward, Mau took to Facebook to vent about his horrific experience.
“I’m getting pretty sick of having to change my daughter on a disgusting floor because the only changing table in the place is located in the women’s bathroom. It’s crazy to imagine I know but there are guys who take care of their kids too you asshats. If it’s a public place with public restrooms in the generation of equality among genders and races then how about making sure us fathers can change our children’s diapers on a goddamn changing table like the mother’s can. Am I asking too much?”
Since being posted on Facebook in late May, Mau’s rant has gone viral. It has been shared more than 144,000 times, with many dads agreeing with Mau’s frustration and sharing their own stories about needing to change their kid’s diaper only to find the men’s room did not have a proper station.

The lack of proper changing stations in men’s public restrooms remains a massive problem in the United States. Despite occasionally surfacing as a political issue with vocal support from both Democrats and Republicans, New York is the only state that currently requires changing tables in all of its public restrooms.
