One dad spent Christmas in the air just so he could have time with his flight attendant daughter who had to work over the holiday. Because he didn’t want the 25-year-old to be alone, Hal Vaughan booked tickets on all six of Pierce’s Christmas Eve and Day flights.
The duo’s sweet story is now going viral, thanks to the man who sat beside Vaughan on a Delta flight from Fort Myers to Detroit Metro Airport. In a Facebook post shared Monday, Mike Levy of Toledo, Ohio describes his encounter with the devoted dad.
“I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home,” wrote Levy, 31. “His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas. Hal decided he would spend the holiday with her. So, he is flying on each of her flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter… What a fantastic father!”

Pierce also posted about her dad’s holiday travels on Christmas the following day. “Look ma we made it,” she said, tagging mom Kimberly. “Dad’s first trip using his benefits was a success!”
She went on to thank everyone who made the experience not only possible, but better than either of them could’ve hoped for. “A special thanks to all of the patient, wonderful gate agents around the country and my perfect crew. He made it on every flight and even got first class RSW-DTW (Christmas miracle).”

Even Delta was impressed with the Vaughans, saying, “We appreciate all of our employees for working during the holidays to serve Delta customers, and love seeing this awesome Dad having the chance to spend Christmas with his daughter – even while crisscrossing the country at 30,000 feet.”
