Science Says The Secret To Better Sex Is Eating Less

You already know that the secret to better sex and sleep is grandparents, but now scientists suspect there are other ways to up your game these areas without the shame of involving your parent and in laws. The bad news is that you may have to cut out about a quarter of the calories you eat — aka the only thing parents have in lieu of sex and sleep. Well played, science. Well played.

Researchers at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center followed 218 men and women over the course of 2 years and broke them into two groups: people who ate what they want, and people who were expected to cut 25 percent of their calories. If that sounds like too much, it was. Over the course of 24 months they were only able to cut 12 percent of calories (about 10 percent of total body weight), and still reported getting more sleep, experiencing an improved mood, and of course, having better sex (which probably caused the first 2 upgrades).

Less Eating Leads to More Sex

Authors of the study, published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, concluded that in non-obese adults calorie reduction had “some positive effects and no negative effects on health-related quality of life.” Apparently, researchers have never met you when you’re hangry and before you spiral into manorexia, it’s important to note that the sample was 70 percent women. But you clearly can’t suggest this to your wife, because the ability to have better sex doesn’t matter if they’re too mad to take part in any.
