Chrissy Teigen may be known for being hilariously candid on Twitter, but even she has her limit. And that limit, according to a tweet on Sunday, is refusing to get involved in the now-viral “Cheese Challenge.”
Known as “cheesing,” the social media challenge began with a video uploaded by user @unclehxlmes on February 28. In the six-second clip, which got over 10 million views and 300,000 retweets before being deleted, a dad throws a slice of American cheese at his baby who naturally looks stunned and adorably confused.
And while the original video has inspired thousands of other parents to share videos of their own kids getting “cheesed,” Teigen doesn’t find it funny.
The mom of two tweeted, “I cannot get myself to throw cheese at my adorable, unsuspecting baby who has all the hope and trust in the world in me.”
Teigen, who has Luna, two, and Miles, nine months, with husband John Legend, isn’t the only critic of the challenge. Her tweet already has nearly 200,000 likes as people shared their own opinions of “cheesing.”
“Thank you. Pranking your kids (especially for “likes”) is so freaking wrong. They should be able to trust you,” wrote one user. Even a professional chimed in, saying, “As a child therapist, watching it angered me. It’s messing with a completely emotionally dependent baby and you can see it in their reaction. Nothing funny about it. Prank an adult.”
Along those same lines, many users suggested Teigen “cheese” Legend instead. Others echoed that they’d rather cheese their spouse or even their dogs instead of their babies.
I love a prank as much as anybody but I cannot get myself to throw cheese at my adorable, unsuspecting baby who has all the hope and trust in the world in me
