Watch These Celebrities Read Hilarious Texts From Their Moms to Celebrate Mother’s Day

"Go the duck to sleep!!"

Jimmy Kimmel Live/YouTube

Moms are good for a lot of things: endless love and support, hugs, and homemade cookies. But they’re also good for sending hilarious texts—which is what Jimmy Kimmel captured during a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! when he had celebrities read some of the funniest texts they’ve received from their own mothers.

The line-up of those that the late-night host featured on “Mom Texts: Celebrity Edition” consisted of Katy Perry, David Harbour, the Kardashians, Billie Eilish, Jimmy O. Yang, Josh Groban, Kiernan Shipka, Pink, Rob Delaney, and Regina Hall.

Katy Perry starts it off with what seems to be a novel from her mom, which contains an interesting metaphor about marriage. “In any relationship, a man has to take the lead, even if you only let him think,” the pop singer reads. “The man is the head but the woman is the neck that turns the head.

Billie Eilish’s mom also had some helpful advice for her daughter—but expressed in much fewer words. “You were tired and in a funk today,” she wrote (at 2:46 a.m. apparently). “Go the duck to sleep!!!!!”

And mama Eilish isn’t the only parent to have an autocorrect fail. According to Rob Delaney’s mom, her phone autocorrected what was meant to say “Fun article!” to “Fucking asshole!” Which is something Delaney still finds very suspicious…

Then there was Josh Groban’s mom who attempted to use an emoji when telling her son to have fun (“or else”) in Ireland. “This is either a shamrock or marijuana leaf,” he read. “Can’t tell, either works!”
