Rapper Cardi B seems to be enjoying motherhood a great deal. It’s only been a few weeks since the birth of Kulture, her first daughter with rapper Offset, but Cardi already appears to be fully embracing parenting on her own terms. In a recent Instagram post, the 25-year-old rapper can be seen singing a pretty original lullaby to her one-month-old daughter.
Rather than go for one of the genre’s tried and true classics, Cardi opted to do a quick remix of Drake’s hit song “In My Feelings” instead. Unsurprisingly, it turned out pretty great.
“Kulture, Do you love me? I’m your mommy. I remember when I had you inside me. And I birthed you, and I need you, and I’m down for you,” Cardi sings in the tune of the massively popular song.
Once the refrain ended Cardi stopped singing words and just descended into a bunch of baby noises which is something every parent has done. Kulture is not shown in the clip but that’s an intentional choice, as Cardi and her husband Offset have vowed to not share any photos of their daughter until she is a few months older.
In general, Cardi has taken a somewhat atypical approach to motherhood, at least compared to other mega-famous parents. She’s said publicly that she also doesn’t want her daughter to grow up with a nanny. That will surely mean some time away from work, but that fact already seems to be on her mind. As she sung to her daughter in the video, the caption actually read “I really don’t wanna go to the studio today.”
