With literally billions of dollars on the line, it makes sense that Marvel goes to great lengths to keep the plot details of its movies secret before they’re released. The actors sometimes don’t even know what scene they’re shooting or, as in Brie Larson’s case, which movie she’s filming.
In an appearance on The Tonight Show, Larson described her first day filming for Marvel at a studio in Atlanta.
“I arrived and they gave me a piece of paper that had a full page of dialogue and action, but all of it was redacted except for my one line.”
The hair and makeup staff were also sworn to secrecy, refusing to even tell her who else was filming that day. And as it turns out, there was no one else on set that day, and the set itself was just a green screen.
And to take the secrecy even further, Larson told Jimmy Fallon that she didn’t even know which movie she was shooting for.
While she recently revealed she filmed her scenes in Endgame before her own movie, the scene she filmed on her very first day in the MCU was the post-credits scene for Captain Marvel. The shot shows some of the Avengers standing together. Then, the camera whip-pans over to Larson in character, who asks “Where’s Fury?” It was a question that Larson the actress also had.
“I was like ‘Wait, but where is he actually? Is he in the room? What room am I in? Or is it like is it another universe?’ They’re like ‘He’s very gone.'”
Fury, of course, was dusted at the end of Infinity War, though judging by his appearance in the Spider-Man: Far from Home trailer, we’re expecting him to make a comeback in Endgame, a movie whose secrets will finally be shared with the general public when it hits theaters tonight. Until then, you can watch Larson’s entire appearance below.
