There is zero question that having a baby is a joyful thing. Back when I had my first child, I wasn’t even on Facebook yet and had to share the news the old fashion way of using the phone. Now, social media allows us to send out the first birth photo and those important details to everyone and anyone. We get to be creative and have fun, but I’m not sure how I feel about the trend of viral marketing other people’s newborn babies. Like the latest viral video on Facebook from a hospital where the staff there dressed brand new babies up as characters from Disney’s Frozen 2.
Saint Luke’s South Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas, shared a video and some photos on Facebook to celebrate the release of Frozen 2. The hospital staff dressed up some babies in cute crocheted outfits to look like the characters of the franchise.
Babies are cute and crocheted outfits add to that cuteness. There’s no question why this moment got so much attention, but it’s one thing when a photo or video you release of your own child becomes the news of the interwebs, but this is basically a marketing ploy for the hospital.
Let them in! Let them see! Our maternity ward at Saint Luke's South has been "Frozen" over. Anna, Elsa, and Olaf are…
The caption of the video shared reads, “Let them in! Let them see! Our maternity ward at Saint Luke’s South has been Frozen over. Anna, Elsa, and Olaf are here and they all like warm hugs. Remember, love is always an open door at Saint Luke’s. Don’t let it go!”
Here's a little something to warm your heart. For the first time in forever, our babies at Saint Luke's South are dressing up for the release of #Frozen2!

I know I’m crotchety, and maybe you feel I should just let this cute feel-good moment be, but I can’t be the only one in feeling some type of way about a baby being relegated to a viral marketing moment.
