This has been a whirlwind year for everyone, including royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The two had a lot going on between the drama between their family, changing careers, starting a new business or two, moving to another country – all while being parents. They wanted more privacy, to be in charge of their own lives. They also wanted to make sure Archie’s voice is respected as he gets older.
It feels like forever ago, but it was only this year that Harry and Meghan announced they were stepping down as senior working members and that they were moving. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted to have a different life for their young son, Archie. And while the year had some complications that even they couldn’t foresee, it seems like they were able to make it work. The two wanted to become independent financially. They scored mega-deals with both Netflix to create a variety of titles. Spotify, to start up a podcast titled “Archewell Audio.”
On Tues., Dec. 29, the royal parents released their first podcast, a surprise Christmas episode, with several high-profile friends and people who have bettered the world. Guests featured Stacey Abrams, Elton John, James Corden, and more. They talked about lessons learned in 2020, goals for the future, all good stuff. What got most people talking was a guest they had at the end of the episode – their 19-month-old son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.
Near the end of the 33-minute podcast, Harry and Meghan tell Archie that he can speak into the microphone – and what kid is going to pass that opportunity up?
“Archie, is it fun?” Meghan asked.
“Fun?” Archie said in his cute little voice.
“Fun!” Meghan replied.
Harry then speaks up and encourages his son to wish everyone a happy New Year.
“After me,” Harry said. “Ready? Happy …”
“Happy,” Archie repeated.
“New,” the two parents said.
“New … Year,” Archie added.
“Yay!” Meghan replied.
“Boom,” Harry replied before laughing.
It’s adorable. Plain and simple. And Archie’s little accent is what got everyone talking. And the giggle Archie lets out, too

We recognize that all kids are adorable. But there’s something about being able to hear how happy this one is after the year his parents had. And we can’t help but smile.
