Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have released a new photo of their son, Archie, in honor of his second birthday. The young royal celebrated on May 6, 2021, and this year marked his first birthday in the United States. His parents have largely kept him out of the public eye since moving from the UK. But they’re using the release of a new photo as an opportunity to highlight an important cause.
The new filtered photo shows Archie from the back only while wearing jeans and a sweater. He’s holding a large bouquet of balloons and looking up to the sky. The snap was taken at the family’s Montecito mansion, and they’re using this as an opportunity to highlight the need for vaccine equity.
Posting the snap to the couple’s non-profit Archewell Foundation, the image is shared with a message saying, “Join us in advocating for vaccine equity on Archie’s birthday.”
“We have been deeply touched over the past two years to feel the warmth and support for our family in honor of Archie’s birthday,” the Duke and Duchess wrote. “Many of you donate to charities on his behalf, and mark the occasion by giving back or doing an act of service—all through the goodness of your hearts. You raise funds for those who need it most, and continue to do so organically and selflessly. We remain incredibly grateful.”

The couple asked for donations to help fund vaccines to vulnerable families around the world. “We cannot think of a more resonant way to honor our son’s birthday,” they continued. “If we all show up, with compassion for those we both know and don’t know, we can have a profound impact. Even a small contribution can have a ripple effect. Together, we can uplift, protect, and care for one another.”
Last year, Meghan and Harry celebrated Archie’s birthday by highlighting Save With Stories charity which to helps raise money to support families.
Archie is set to become a big brother this year, too. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting a little girl sometime this summer.
