Actor Alec Baldwin became a father for the sixth time on Tuesday when his wife, author and podcaster Hilaria Baldwin, gave birth to a baby boy.
A photo of the couple and their newborn was posted to Hilaria’s Instagram. “We had a baby last night,” the caption reads. “He is perfect and we couldn’t be happier. Stay tuned for a name.”
The same photo also appeared on Baldwin’s account, where he wrote “Número Cinco está aqui…..(Para mi, número seis)” and “My karma is your karma. Your karma is mine.”
The couple, who married in 2012, have four other kids: Carmen, 7; Rafael, 5; Leonardo, 3; and Romeo, 2. So it’s a pretty safe bet that the name they eventually land on will have its origins in a Romance language. Baldwin has another daughter, 24-year-old Ireland, from his previous marriage to Kim Basinger.
And while every healthy birth comes with a sense of relief for the parents, this news is especially good for the Baldwins after Hilaria went through two miscarriages last year, one in April and one in November.
That experience might have been enough for some couples, especially those with four kids, to stop growing their families, but it didn’t stop the Baldwins. Hilaria recently spoke to People about why she likes having a lot of kids.
“The best thing about having a big family is there’s just so much love,” she said. “They say when you have one kid, you’re like, ‘I could never love another person as much as I love this kid.’ Then you have another one and you realize you can. And that doesn’t change as you have more and more and more.”
