A Huge Podcast About ‘The Office’ Drops Next Week and it Stars…Billie Eilish?

A new cure for quarantine boredom.

Entertainment Weekly dropped big news yesterday for Office superfans and those of us whose brains are metastasizing due to quarantine boredom. Brian Baumgartner, otherwise known as Kevin in the iconic American sitcom, will host a 12-part series called An Oral History of the Office. The show will be markedly different from the ongoing podcast by Angela Kinsey (who played Angela) and Jenna Fischer’s (who played Pam) Office Ladies.

While in Office Ladies, Kinsey and Fischer do a deep dive into every single episode and occasionally feature celebrity guests, Baumgartner’s Office retrospective will begin with the origins of the show. The co-creator of the original UK version, Ricky Gervais, will meet with Ben Silverman, the American version’s co-creator, in a Starbucks in SoHo. But on top of all that, the show will also star someone super surprising: Billie Eilish.

Rather than talking about just the plot, the show will talk about the trials and tribulations of getting the show off the ground, casting the show, and storylines and major show moments. The show will also feature celebrity guests who were a part of the show, like Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, and, of course, Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey. And, of course, Billie Eilish.

But why Billie? Well, she’s been a long-proclaimed Office-super-fan. In May, while facetiming Rainn Wilson (relatable!) she had just washed the series for the 15th time — and a year ago, for Billboard Magazine, subjected herself to being quizzed by Rainn Wilson on all things Office.

  1. Do you plan on sending your kids back to school this fall?
Yes. I trust that our schools are taking precautions.
No. We don't feel that proper precautions are in place.
I'm not sure yet. It depends on how things progress.
Thanks for the feedback!

Her breadth of knowledge was pretty impressive, which means she’ll be a great addition to the new Office podcast.
