Why You Should Encourage Your Kid To Dress Up

A kid in a costume is a kid whose brain is firing on all cylinders. They’re consciously placing themselves in new situations, trying to view the world from someone else’s perspective and stretching their language skills to accommodate everything. Add another kid to the mix, and the problem solving becomes more complex and they learn useful things like sharing and listening. Sounds good, right? You can encourage all these brain games by making sure there’s a play bin stacked with stuff for dressing up – and don’t run to the store to fill it. Your old clothes, mom’s old clothes, old kitchen utensils and phones and bags are more than enough to inspire impromptu performances of “Dad Takes A Call While Making Pancakes.”
