A study done in conjunction with the MacArthur Foundation’s “Housing Matters” initiative has determined a link between less congested toll booths and lower premature birth rates. In areas within
two kilometers of newly installedE-ZPass lanes in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, researchers found that an 11-percent decrease in airborne nitrogen oxide levels correlated to between 6.7 and 9.2-percent fewer premature births by area women. The takeaway for you? Cruising through toll booths may have actually become a moral imperative.
