The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the classic book that follows a ravenous caterpillar through an all-you-can-eat, transmogrifying buffet, might be the best-loved bedtime story ever. A copy has been sold about once per minute since its release in 1969. The silly story has enchanted generations of parents and kids, but the real gem is its beautiful graphics, which have made designer Eric Carle a household name.
Now, fans of Carle’s work can wear his iconic art thanks to a collaboration with Urban Outfitters. Just in time for this year’s Very Hungry Caterpillar Day, the chain is selling a shirt and sweatshirt with Carle’s signature illustrations. The shirt has the infamous caterpillar and fruit, while the sweatshirt is adorned with animals from Carle’s other classic, Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? Both pieces are much cooler than your average children’s franchise merchandise, and kids will get a kick out of Mom or Dad wearing the art from their favorite book.
Featuring the caterpillar and several pieces of fruit featured in the book, Carle's famous collage-style illustrations elevate a graphic tee to a piece of art.
This playful, cool sweatshirt looks good even before you realize you've seen the animals on it before.
